If you're traveling to the islands in late April, this super cool house party at local Jamie Lawrence's gorgeous home will be a blast! (We've done it three times previously.) Jamie and his wife Lori have a concert grand piano, Hammond organ with Leslie speaker, drum kit, p.a. system, upright bass, more guitars & guitar amps than I can count, and more--all in their sprawling, elegant living room! Seating is very limited, so if you wish to reserve a seat, email Jamie ASAP: jamie@melelana.org
Exciting news: The 1905 is reopening, and the Mel Brown B-3 Organ Group has the honor of playing at the Re-Opening event! We'll play two separately ticketed shows, beginning at 6 pm (doors 5 pm) and 8:15 pm (doors 7:30) respectively. Dan Balmer, our guitarist, won't be with us for the 2nd show, so if you like guitar you'll want to come to the early show. Seriously, Dan is fantastic, but sans guitar we feature the amazing Mel Brown quite a bit more. So trust me, the 2nd show will be great too!

Mac's Nightclub & Restaurant, 1626 Willamette Street, Eugene, OR 97401
It's that time of year: another birthday bash for one of the icons of NW blues, Lloyd Jones! If you're in the Eugene area and love the blues, you won't want to miss this gig!
King Louie & Renato Caranto, with Michael Raynor on drums, will have the pleasure of opening for a very cool veteran British band, The New Mastersounds. The Mastersounds are definitely funky and definitely entertaining! I hope you can come check out this show. Tickets are a very reasonable $25. (Doors: 7:00; our set: 8-8:45 pm.) I'm not sure of the seating situation, so I'd advise arriving early.
Here's a blurb about the New Mastersounds from the Wonder Ballroom website. You can check out their many live videos on YouTube.
For over two decades, The New Mastersounds have maintained more than just a reputation of longevity. Instead, they’ve cultivated a rare balance of consistency, yet commitment to constantly evolving their sound. Forged out of the golden age of the modern funk and soul revival in 1999, the band has amassed a catalog of sixteen albums, embarked on countless world tours, and drawn in a broad audience through both their original material and collaborations with esteemed vocalists and remixers. After a two-year hiatus of in-person engagements, the band retreated to the brand new Floki Studios in Iceland to hunker down and create their 17th studio album. ‘The Deplar Effect’ was released on Color Red in September 2022, and features Atlanta based vocalist Lamar Williams Jr, son of Lamar Williams of the Allman Brothers.

Alberta Street Pub, 1036 NE Alberta St, , Portland, OR 97211
The Mel Brown Organ Trio has a monthly First Saturday gig as part of Tyrone Hendrix' "Lunch & Soul" series. But for the April edition, Chicagoan Michael Raynor will fill in for Mel on drums. Since Renato and I play regularly with Michael--most recently at the Seaside Jazz & Blues Festival--we'll be just fine. Come check it out if you can: this is a nice neigborhood venue, and the event is all-ages and no cover charge! (Weather willing, we'll be playing in the outdoor performance space out back.)
We're very happy to be keeping our Thursday night tradition alive--20 years at Jimmy Mak's and 6 years at the JLR (with a 1-year COVID pause). On average, we play two Thursdays per month, and those shows frequently sell out, so you're advised to purchase your tickets ASAP! Go to the Jack London Revue's website (www.jacklondonrevue.com) to confirm dates and purchase advanced tickets (thru ticketweb.com).

Renato and I are looking forward to playing at this gorgeous, intimate, brand new wine bar in downtown Camas (right across the street from the Liberty Theater). Unlike most restaurants, this one was designed with musical acoustics in mind, so it sounds great! Obviously the wine is a highlight, but the appetizers are good too. Come check it out if you're a Clark County-ite! (no cover charge)

This will be a fun one! Guitarist/vocalist Chic Preston reminds me of Mose Allison; he's great fun to play with. Joining Chic and me will be the great Jason Palmer on drums. Making it extra cool: the the historic Hood River Hotel's lobby makes for a wonderful venue. Come check it out and see for yourself! (no cover charge)
This brunch series, curated by the venue's co-owner Tyrone Hendrix (a great drummer in his own right) is great fun! Renato Caranto and I will be joining the legendary Mel Brown once again. No cover, all-ages, and at a civilized hour. What's not to like??

Sadly, our 20-year run as "Jimmy Mak's signature group" (The Oregonian) came to an end in December 2016 with Jimmy's untimely passing. But our new Thursday night residency at the Jack London Revue is going very well--with three years already under our belt. This is a beautiful, recently-renovated downstairs venue reminiscent of classic jazz clubs of the 50's & 60's. The club features a great sound system, plenty of comfortable seating, intimate lighting, good food, drink & service, and even a dance floor.
