On this special Thursday night at the JLR, the Mel Brown B-3 Organ Group will just play a single set (8-9:30 pm), opening for the exciting NYC group Kneebody.  From the JLR website: "Kneebody's sound is explosive rock energy paralleled with high-level nuanced chamber ensemble playing, with highly wrought compositions that are balanced with adventurous no-holds-barred improvising. All 'sounds-like' references can be set aside; this band has created a genre and style all its own."As for the B-3 Organ Group: sadly, our 20-year run as "Jimmy Mak's signature group" (The Oregonian) came to an end in December 2016 with Jimmy's untimely passing.  But our new Thursday night residency at the Jack London Revue is going very well--with over three years already under our belt.  This is a beautiful, recently-renovated downstairs venue reminiscent of classic jazz clubs of the 50's & 60's.  The club features a great sound system, plenty of comfortable seating, intimate lighting, good food, drink & service, and even a dance floor.  Advanced tickets are available here.
