I was exposed to a lot of poetry as well as jazz as a youngster--sometimes in combination. That's because my stepfather was Dean of Creative Writing at San Francisco State University back in the day, and he was also a big jazz fan. So it's a real pleasure to work with the fine lyrical poet Emmett Wheatfall! Joining me in accompanying Emmett at this special engagement will be Edwin Coleman III on drums, Renato Caranto on sax, and the wonderful LaRhonda Steele on vocals.
