This group, dubbed "Jimmy Mak's signature band" by The Oregonian, has been performing there on Thursday nights for 18 years and counting! When George Benson heard the group, he said, "If this band played in New York City, they'd be a sensation!" The Oregonian's Kyle O'Brien described the band's unique style as, "the sound of spontaneity." And Downbeat Magazine recently wrote that, "Something special occurs when this local quintet appears at Jimmy Mak's jazz club in Portland, Oregon." On this special Thursday, the regular group (Mel, drums; Louis Pain, B-3; Dan Balmer, guitar; Renato Caranto, sax; and Curtis Craft, percussion; will be joined by past band members Dan Faehnle, guitar; Thara Memory, trumpet; and Stan Bock, trombone.
