This very special event, organized by Soul Sisters Productions, LLC, is a benefit for the young cousin of one of Portland's most respected & beloved blues artists, Lisa Mann. The cousin's name is Alyssa, and she's in the final stages of a long fight with a rare brain cancer. Alyssa contracted the disease at the age of two, and now, at age 14, she's discontinuing treatment so that she can spend her last days with family.
Portland's blues community has come together in a remarkable way to support young Aly and her family. As have sympathetic musicians from beyond our community, including Carlos Santana--who donated a signed guitar for the auction--Steve Miller, and others. There will be numerous desirable items auctioned or raffled off, plus music by Lisa Mann's group, her sister's band (Butterfly Breakdown), the Lloyd Jones Band, and my own King Louie Blues Revue, featuring Lisa with Andy Stokes and Rae Gordon on vocals.
