We'll have the honor of closing the festival this Fourth of July, right before the fireworks! For this special blues festival appearance, I've arranged for the same band that broke attendance records at Jazz at the Oxford last October (selling out all three shows two weeks in advance) to be augmented by a Bay Area sax great. That's Jules Broussard--my bandleader in the '70s and a true legend, having worked with Ray Charles, Santana, Van Morrison, Boz Skaggs, Willie Mae Thorton, Little Willie John, Johnny Otis, Esther Phillips, etc. Jules will be joined by his horn playing partner in crime, trombonist Danny Armstrong (truly an incredible musician) and an all-star line-up of Portland talent, including Andy Stokes (who will sing the National Anthem following our set), LaRhonda Steele, Lisa Mann, Brian Foxworth, Peter Dammann, and myself. I can't wait to hit the big stage with this amazing band!
