For this very special Blues Festival Week gig, the Mel Brown B-3 Organ Group will be joined by a pair of legendary Bay Area horn players: Jules Broussard and Danny Armstrong. Broussard's resume is particularly impressive: he replaced Fathead Newman in the Ray Charles Orchestra, and went on to work with many jazz, R & B and rock legends, including Santana, Van Morrison, Boz Skaggs, Johnny Otis, Big Mama Thorton, Cleanhead Vinson, Little Willie John, etc. Mel Brown and Jules worked together in the early 70's, and I had a ten year stint in Jules' band beginning in 1973. Early in that run, I introduced Jules to Danny Armstrong, and the two have been inseparable musical partners ever since. This should be a very special evening: a personal dream come true for me.
